IMD Group are pleased to announce the appointment of Managing Consultant Kelvin Smith. Kelvin has a wealth of experience working within a military environment having spent 22 Years in the Royal Air Force as a Telecommunications Engineer. He spent a further 15 years working in Cyber Management as a Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority (SCIDA) Engineer for Air Command.

During his RAF Career, Kelvin worked in many different locations across the UK and overseas. He enjoyed tours in Gibraltar, Germany and Cyprus as well as serving on detachments in the Falkland Islands, Italy and Australia. He was able to gain experience working within numerous different Telecommunications disciplines. These include Radar, HF Communications, Secure Networks and the installation of Fiber Optical and Copper infrastructure for Local Area Networks.

As a SCIDA he was fortunate to work on many RAF and other MOD Airfields across the South of England. Heading a team of Engineers, Kelvin carried out Configuration Management and Assurance of all new Information and Communications Technology systems to ensure compliance with the MOD installation and safety guidelines.

Outside work, Kelvin has been married to Claire for 35 years and has two grown up children. He has lived in Swindon since leaving the RAF 15 years ago. He now shares his home with Boris, a 4-year-old Welsh Collie-Poodle cross who insists on long walks and jumping in any muddy water he can find!

Kelvin said, ” I am really pleased to join such a forward thinking and dynamic company as IMD Group. I have been made to feel really welcome and I look forward to making a real difference during this exciting time of growth for IMD.”
