Concept stage for a £400m+ project
Background
Located in west Wiltshire, MOD Corsham is the product of a £690 million development project that was completed in 2011 and is home to the MOD’s Global Operations Security Control Centre (GOSCC) and Strategic Command’s (SC) Defence Digital (DD) department. The site is responsible for the design, development, acquisition and operation of information capabilities across Defence.
Overview
TRINITY, a £400m+ Category A centrally approved project, was reinitiated in April 2016 following an 18-month pause. Now subsumed within the MORPHEUS Programme – TRINITY is the capability project for the current in-service FALCON capability. On behalf of the TRINITY Project Director, we formed a team around the project to run the Concept Phase to secure Initial Gate Business Case (IGBC) approval to proceed to the Assessment Phase.
How we helped

Embedding product controls
We successfully designed and embedded an effective project controls drumbeat, including risk, assumptions, issues, dependancies and opportunities (RAIDO) management processes.
Upskilling existing staff
We worked closely with MOD personnel via one-to-one training, close support, coaching and mentoring to provide knowledge and skill transfer.
Initiating an evidence-based approach
By championing an evidence-based approached, we were able to reshape governance processes and substantiate our findings and recommendations for the IGBC.
Curating acquisition options
Our team developed and defined a credible set of acquisition options matched to the technical content, wider programme views and supply chain characteristics.
Expert procurement support
We provided specialist commercial advice to the project team (in accordance with MOD policy and guidance) to manage the entire Tender Process for the TRINITY Technical Support competition.
